When I say that I have the best clients, I’m not just gushing. I really do. I meet some of the sweetest, kindest people through my photography business, and I am so grateful that God blesses us by putting us in each other’s paths! Megan and Jack are two of those people who just fit together like puzzle pieces, and both of them are so genuinely friendly and thoughtful. I met them at their engagement session on the lake at McDowell Nature Preserve, and I felt like I was hanging out with a couple of old friends!

Megan and Jack planned their intimate wedding to be held on the shore of Lake Wylie, where they spend a lot of their time boating. They rented a beautiful AirBnB for the weekend, nicknamed “Windy Gap,” and it was the perfect spot for a microwedding! When I arrived, they and their closest friends and family members were just relaxing in the house and on the double-decker porches, snacking on Chick-fil-A sandwiches, fruit, and veggies, and visiting/opening special wedding gifts. The ceremony space was already set up outside with the lake as a backdrop—it was an absolutely gorgeous setting.

One of the coolest things I saw when I was wandering around the house taking photos of some of their details was a blanket made from one of the engagement photos I had taken for them! Megan’s dad runs a textile business, and he had taken one of their photos and turned it into a beautiful blanket. What a fun way to preserve a special memory.

As more friends and family arrived, Megan and Jack parted ways to get ready for their ceremony. Megan’s two best friends helped her get ready, and then she shared a first look with her dad. After that, everyone headed down to the ceremony space to watch them exchange their vows!

It was a beautiful ceremony, catching the attention of some of the neighbors, who watched from their yard. It would have been a hard scene to ignore because it was so sweet! There were several happy tears shed from friends and family alike, and lots of hugs! It was the perfect day, completely reflective of the couple we were all celebrating.

After being pronounced husband and wife, we took a few more photos on the property of the AirBnB, and then Megan and Jack boarded their pontoon with several friends and headed off to their reception, a lakeside restaurant in Belmont called Drift. I arrived to the restaurant just in time to see their boat pulling in! They walked upstairs to the private room where a dinner was being held in their honor, greeted their guests, shared a first dance, and then spent some quality time visiting with all of their favorite people before a delicious three-course dinner. We even got to go out on the boat for a few sunset photos, which of course, made my night!

It was one of the most intimate, authentic weddings I’ve been able to witness. Megan and Jack spent time at their reception speaking to every guest who came, which is just who they are—they genuinely care about everyone. It was the kind of wedding that makes everyone feel special and included.

Megan said, “A moment that stands out to me is at our reception my father-in-law asked me if everything went the way I had planned, and I said, ‘No, but in the best way!’ All the planning and details did not pan out exactly how I thought they would, and moments like when everyone came into the house before the ceremony caught me off guard but made me appreciate how intimate and special our day was.”

It was indeed intimate and special, which is everything the two of them deserve. Congratulations again, Megan and Jack!
